Two of the most important innovations of the 21st century, the Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence (AI), are ready to join forces to create various applications that could literally revolutionize our lives.
At the beginning of the year, Meta, while focusing on the release of its headsets, introduced the AI Research SuperCluster (RSC), which once completed will be the most powerful computer in the world. As stated by the company, one of the tasks of the supercomputer will be to keep the digital worlds that make up the metaverse operational and functional. Environments and Characters in the Metaverse
Firstly, it will be possible to create a virtual environment. However, this won’t be done “manually” by a team of developers, but rather through a generative AI model. Artificial intelligence will then create our realistic avatar. In the near future, transitioning to the metaverse for formal contexts such as work will require the presence of a realistic alter ego, rather than a cartoonish character.
Once digital environments and characters are created, they will need to be animated. Rather than introducing entirely new features, it will be important to implement some that we are already familiar with from our daily experience with digital devices. For example, allowing a group of people speaking different languages to communicate and understand each other in real-time. Additionally, as seen on social networks, various algorithms will likely work to keep us as connected as possible and will be used by companies to captivate us with marketing initiatives. These algorithms could also be employed to establish an effective surveillance system aimed at punishing and discouraging offenses, harassment, and abuses.
